Trash & Recycling Service

Trash, recycling and heavy trash in Pecan Grove is collected by GFL Environmental, formerly Waste Corporation of Texas, under contract to Pecan Grove Municipal Utility District.

Your recycling day depends on which side of Plantation Drive you live on. Trash and heavy trash are the same for everyone — Monday and Thursday.

Trash Pickup Schedules

Which recycling day is yours

The district runs recycling once a week, on two routes split by Plantation Drive.

  • North of Plantation Drive: Monday.
  • On or south of Plantation Drive: Thursday.

Household trash and heavy trash are collected Monday and Thursday wherever you live.

Your containers

  • The largest container allowed is 50 gallons, unless you bought a cart directly from GFL.
  • Nothing may weigh more than 50 pounds — container, bag or bundle.
  • If your recycling cart is damaged, GFL replaces it at no charge. Ring customer service.

Recycling

The district does not publish its own accepted-materials list, so this page will not invent one. Empty and rinse containers, break cardboard down, and if you are not sure whether something is recyclable, ask GFL rather than guessing — a wrong item can spoil a whole load.

Tree trimmings and yard waste

  • Cut trimmings into 4-foot lengths.
  • Tie and bundle them.
  • Keep each bundle under 50 pounds.

Heavy trash

Collected on both days, Monday and Thursday, alongside the regular trash.

For something large or unusual, GFL offers a paid heavy-item pickup. Ring ahead to arrange it rather than leaving the item at the curb and hoping.

What is not collected

Dirt, rocks, brick and concrete are not part of normal trash collection.

Never hide a liquid in a bin. Paint, fuel, motor oil and cooking oil leak, stain the street and damage the truck.

Chemicals, batteries and tires

None of these go in your bins or your heavy trash. They go to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center, 1200 Blume Road, Rosenberg. Check your options and confirm what they accept, any fees, proof-of-residency rules and opening hours before you drive out.

Holidays

Collection runs every Monday and Thursday through 2026 with one exception: no collection on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 26 November 2026. Confirm with the district or GFL before any other holiday week rather than relying on this page.

Reaching GFL

Call (281) 368-8397, email wcacshouston@gflenv.com, or write to 8515 Highway 6 South, Houston, Texas 77083.

For water and sewer, that is the district, not GFL: Pecan Grove MUD, 751 Pitts Road, Richmond, on (281) 238-5000.

When you report a missed collection, have your address, which service was missed, the date it was due, what happened, and a photograph if there is one to take.
